Calling all photographers big and small. Submit
your best piece(s) into the City of Whittier’s “The Big
Picture” photo contest. The purpose of this contest
is to capture and display the beauty in and around
your life through your photographs. Cash prizes will
be awarded to 1st place winners in each category
and one over-all winner.

Get out your camera, iphone, smartphone, ipod,
video camera, etc. and snap a few great photos in
these categories.
Category 1: Whittier People and Places
(Model releases are required)
Category 2: Landscapes/Nature/Cityscapes
Category 3: Fine Art, Fashion, Editorial

Photographer may submit a maximum of
six(6) photographs. No more than two (2)
photographs may be submitted by anyone in a
single category.


Winner(s) will be announced on May 18, 2015 at

$150 for each category and a $175 prize for over all photo.

Rules & Eligibility

**Photographer may submit a maximum of eight (8) photographs. No more than two (2) photographs may be submitted by anyone in a single category.** PHOTO REQUIREMENTS: A) Photographs must be in digital format. Only online entries will be eligible. No print or film submissions will be accepted. The photograph need not be taken with a digital camera; scans of negatives, transparencies, or photographic prints are acceptable. B) All digital files must be 5 megabytes or smaller, must be in JPEG or JPG format, and must be at least 1,600 pixels wide (if a horizontal image) or 1,600 pixels tall (if a vertical image). C) Photographs must have been taken within two (2) years before the date of entry and may not previously have won an award in any other Photography Contest. D) Photographs that include models, sculptures, statues, paintings and other works of art will be accepted as long as they do not constitute copyright infringement or fraud; provided entrants must be prepared to provide a release form that you can obtain through emailing city staff at E) The photograph, in its entirety, must be a single work of original material. By entering the Contest, entrant represents, acknowledges, and warrants that the submitted photograph is an original work created solely by the entrant, that the photograph does not infringe on the copyrights, trademarks, moral rights, rights of privacy/ publicity or intellectual property rights of any person or entity, and that no other party has any right, title, claim, or interest in the photograph. F) The photograph must not, in the sole and unfettered discretion of the Sponsor, contain obscene, provocative, defamatory, sexually explicit, or otherwise objectionable or inappropriate content. G) The caption must be complete and accurate, sufficient to convey the circumstances in which the photograph was taken. Disguising or misrepresenting the origin of your content is cause for disqualification. H) Watermarks are not acceptable. If we do not receive a non-watermarked version of the entry within ten (10) days following its request, the entry will be disqualified.

* NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. A PURCHASE WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING. An entry fee or voting fee may be required, but a purchase of products or services from the contest host company or its sponsors is not necessary. Purchasing will not increase your chances of winning.
